Train fares are rising three times faster than wages. On the 2nd January they are set to go up again.
Yesterday, a group of activists met at the TSSA railway/transport union and decided to do their best to organise protests, during the rush hour periods on January 2nd, at as many railway stations as possible.
A decent railway infrastructure is vital if we are going to do something about getting people off the roads and out of the air, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These protests are being organised under the banner of the Together for Transport campaign, with the support of the Alliance for Jobs and Climate, and others involved with a new grouping (headed by Charles Secrett) called ACT!
The plan is to organise activations in at least 10 cities across the country, including Brighton, Bristol, Derby, St Pancras/Kings X, Waterloo, Newcastle and York. If you live in these cities, please join in.
If you want to do an action at another station, let us know ASAP and we can get materials sent to you. Hopefully between us all we can connect you with other participants on your area. Email the firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
